Professional In-Office Whitening
There are two ways in which we can help to whiten your teeth. One way is with an in-office procedure often called chairside whitening. This type of whitening requires a single appointment and only about an hour of your time. After we clean your teeth, we place a lip retractor in your mouth and apply a protective gel to your gums. Next, the whitening gel is applied to your teeth, and light is shown over your mouth. The active ingredient begins to break down, forming tiny oxygen bubbles. These bubbles enter into the enamel and the dentin of the teeth, where they attach to stains and effectively eliminate them. The light works to enhance the results. With in-office whitening, we can whiten your teeth several shades, and the results are noticeable immediately. Whitening Trays
If you would prefer to whiten your teeth on your own time, we can provide you with take-home whitening trays. We custom create whitening trays for you based on digital impressions of your mouth. You are then provided with the trays, the whitening gel, and instructions for use. The trays are made to be worn for a few hours twice a day. They are generally used for one to two weeks, sometimes longer, depending upon your needs and your goals. Your teeth can be whitened several shades, with results beginning to show in just under a week.
Why Not Use Over the Counter Whiteners?
You may have noticed that there are numerous different types of whitening products available in the oral care section of just about any store you walk into. These products include toothpaste, strips, gels, pens, and more. They often promise incredible results in very little time. However, it can take quite some time before you see even a minor change. While they can be effective for minor surface stains, more significant staining requires professional treatment to achieve your desired results.
Is Professional Whitening Safe?
Professional teeth whitening is very safe. We take action to protect your oral tissues during in-office whitening. Teeth whitening can cause some tooth sensitivity during your treatment period. This sensitivity can often be managed with toothpaste specifically designed to combat the issue. The sensitivity fades once your treatment is complete.
