Oral hygiene is essential for protecting the health of your mouth. There are several components that go into maintaining good oral health. In addition to brushing and flossing your teeth every day at home, it is important to have your teeth professionally cleaned and examined at least twice a year. Skipping out on any part of your oral hygiene routine, even only occasionally, can increase your risk for serious issues. If your mouth is affected by an oral health problem, OHIOSmiles can help with restorative dentistry.
Tooth Colored FillingsTooth-colored fillings are a treatment for restoring the health of your teeth following a cavity. CEREC® Same-Day CrownsCrowns are a restoration used to treat damaged teeth. They prevent further harm and prevent infections while restoring strength to the affected teeth. Typically, it takes two appointments to get a dental crown. With CEREC technology, however, we can provide you with a ceramic crown in just one visit, eliminating the need for a temporary tooth and a second visit. A digital impression of your mouth enables us to design a restoration that will fit perfectly in your mouth. After designing the crown, our in-house milling machine brings it to life. We are then able to fit your crown, make any necessary adjustments, and place it all in the same visit. Read more about CEREC® Same-Day Crowns.
BridgesA bridge is a restoration used to replace up to three consecutive missing teeth. The most common type of bridge is a fixed bridge. This restoration consists of the pontic teeth, or false teeth, which fill in the space in your mouth. Crowns on each side of the pontic teeth are used to anchor the bridge in place on your adjacent teeth. These abutment teeth are prepared, or reduced in size so that the crowns can fit properly over them. The bridge is secured over the abutment teeth and bonded in place. Read more about Bridges.
Dentures and PartialsDentures are a traditional restoration for replacing a full arch of missing teeth. Partials replace sections of missing teeth. Dentures are a removable prosthetic that has been in use for hundreds of years. The dentures used today consist of acrylic resin teeth and a rigid acrylic base. They are designed to provide a much more realistic restoration. The base is made to sit directly on your gums, supported by the tissue and the bony ridge underneath. Both dentures and partials should be removed nightly for cleaning and to let your gums rest. Read more about Dentures & Partials.
Root Canal TherapyRoot canal therapy is a treatment used to restore the health of a tooth following an infection. The procedure is designed to eliminate the infection while allowing the tooth to remain in its socket. The procedure begins with a small access hole removed into the tooth. Small tools enable us to remove the infected pulp and nerve as well as shape and clean the canals. After the tooth is cleaned, it is filled, and a crown is placed to provide additional protection. Dental ImplantsDental implants are a modern treatment used to replace missing teeth. This treatment uses small titanium or ceramic posts to provide support for your dental restorations. The posts are surgically implanted into your jawbone. The bone fuses to the posts, turning them into replacement tooth roots that hold your new teeth securely in place. Implants can replace a single tooth, or they can replace multiple. They can even replace an entire arch. Read more about Dental Implants.
ExtractionsWhen tooth damage occurs, the preferred solution is to restore them. However, in instances of severe damage or decay, when the teeth are significantly compromised, it is better to have them extracted. Tooth extractions, are a process in which we remove the affected teeth. Once the teeth have been extracted, they can then be replaced. Read more about Extractions.
All-on-4® Treatment ConceptWhile dental implants are an incredibly popular treatment for replacing missing teeth, they rely on the strength of your jawbone for success. Without sufficient bone mass, your bone cannot properly fuse to the posts, resulting in loose implants and unstable restorations. Typically, implants can be made possible with a bone graft. If you are missing a full arch of teeth and do not have enough bone mass, we can help to avoid the need for a bone graft with the All on four treatment. This treatment uses only four implant posts, instead of the 6 to 8 typically used, to support your arch of replacement teeth. The posts are strategically placed to provide maximum contact with your existing jawbone. This aids in optimizing osseointegration and increasing the success of implant stability.
