Cavities are something nearly every single person on the planet will face at one point in time or another. They happen, even if you do an outstanding job of keeping up with your oral hygiene and you come in for exams and cleanings every six months. The sooner we can find and treat a cavity, the easier it is to treat. Do you know what a cavity feels like? Some people have had plenty and know the feeling right away. However, others have never had one and do not know what to expect. Here are a couple signs that you may have a cavity in one of your teeth. Signs There May Be a Cavity in Your MouthThe first sign most people notice that they may have a cavity is that their tooth becomes sensitive. When you drink or eat something extremely warm or very cold, it can make your tooth ache. This can also happen if you eat sweets or eat something bitter. This should clue you in that there is a problem with your teeth. The next sign that you may have a cavity is pain. Ideally, we never want to see you for a cavity that hurts, but they do get to this point when not caught sooner. This is when the decaying part of your tooth hits a nerve within your tooth. This can be a dull ache or the type of pain that changes what you are able to get accomplished in a day. If you notice either of these signs, call us to have us take a look. We are experienced in what early cavities look like and know how to pick them up on x-rays, allowing us to catch them as soon as possible. Avoid the sensitivity or pain that comes with an untreated cavity. |
